Why I Chose Veda5 — Our Home in Rishikesh

ayurveda india 2027 india retreat nada yoga rishikesh sound healing veda5 yoga retreat Nov 03, 2026

When I began imagining our 2027 retreat in India, I knew I wanted more than simply a place for us to sleep between excursions and workshops.

I wanted our home base to be part of the experience itself.

A place where we could wake up surrounded by nature.
Where yoga and meditation were part of the daily rhythm.
Where we could experience Ayurveda
Where the food supported our wellbeing.
And where there was enough beauty, quiet and comfort to really exhale.

That is why I chose Veda5 Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat in Rishikesh for our time together.

Set in the Himalayan landscape outside the bustle of central Rishikesh, Veda5 brings together Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, nature and comfortable retreat living in one beautiful environment.

And I think it gives us exactly the balance I want for this journey:

Deep practice + deep restoration.

Ayurveda as a lived experience

One of the things I’m most excited about is having the opportunity to actually experience Ayurveda while we are in India.

Veda5 has an on-site Ayurvedic center where guests can receive consultation and traditional therapies such as Abhyanga massage, Shirodhara and other treatments selected according to individual needs.

For me, this is such an important part of the retreat.

Many of us spend so much time learning, teaching, facilitating and caring for others.

This is also a week to receive.

To let someone else take care of you.
To slow down enough to notice what your body is asking for.

Yoga, meditation & morning practice

Imagine waking up in the foothills of the Himalayas and beginning the day with movement, breath, meditation or sound.

Yoga and meditation are already part of the culture of Veda5, which means our own Nada Yoga, vocal meditation, mantra and sound practices can exist within a larger rhythm of contemplative living.

Practice doesn't have to feel like something we squeeze into the day.

For this week, practice becomes part of the day.

Fresh vegetarian Ayurvedic meals

Food is also part of the wellness experience.

Veda5 serves vegetarian meals informed by Ayurvedic principles, with fresh produce—including ingredients grown on their own organic farm.

I love the idea that our retreat isn't just about what we learn in a workshop.

The meals, rest, environment, treatments, sound, movement and daily rhythms are all contributing to the experience.

A beautiful place to actually rest

And yes—comfort matters.

Our days will include adventures into Rishikesh, spiritual sites, music, time along the Ganga, practice and learning.

So I also wanted us to return somewhere that feels peaceful.

Beautiful rooms.
Private balconies.
Mountain air.
Places to sit outside.
A pool.
Nature.

And time when there is absolutely nothing you need to accomplish.

Some afternoons you may want an Ayurvedic treatment.
Some you may want to journal.
Some you may want to talk with new friends.
And some you may simply want to sit outside, look at the mountains and do nothing at all.

That is part of the retreat too.

Our sanctuary between the adventures

We'll be venturing out to experience Rishikesh—the Ganga, sacred spaces, music, ceremony and the extraordinary spiritual culture of this region.

But then we'll come home to Veda5.

And I really love that contrast.

Exploration and sanctuary.
Learning and receiving.
Sound and silence.
Community and personal space.
Adventure and rest.

This retreat is not meant to leave you needing a vacation after your vacation.

My hope is that you return home feeling nourished, creatively inspired and more connected to your own practice.

And I believe where we stay is a very important part of creating that experience.
